Book description

Towards International Government by John Atkinson Hobson, published 1915. He was an English economist, sociologist. This book examines the impact of World War I on global diplomacy and the alliance system. John Atkinson Hobson argues that in order to reduce armaments and the possibility of a new world war, it is necessary to create an organizational structure for an international government. As an extension of the League of Nations, the author proposes that this council should have legislative powers to enable it to impose economic sanctions and, if necessary, the ability to deploy international forces. It is an extremely forward-looking work of immense value to 20th century economic and political historians and should not be overlooked.
