Quite a lot has been said and written about the American Indians, including the Klamath Indians, the tribe of the author of this book, including the white people. But most of what is said and written is an assumption, not facts, and the author considers it necessary to first say who she is. Lucy Thompson is a purebred Klamath River woman. She, as a native of her tribe, understands every word, every nod and gesture in their language. Therefore, she felt that she was in a better position than any other person to tell the true facts of religion and the meaning of many things that her tribe used to capture the events of the past. In this book, she tried to tell everything simply and truthfully, without the slightest embellishment of the facts, and adding fairy tales for children. In this book, many things will be named in her own language.
