The Story of the Isle of Man - is a 1901 book on the history of the Isle of Man written by Arthur William Moore, a Manx antiquarian, folklorist, historian, and linguist. Also he was a former Speaker of the House of Keys in the Isle of Man. This book was written as an introduction to the history of the Isle of Man especially for children. The book was written during a growing sense of the Isle of Man's national identity, thanks in large part to the work of Arthur William Moore himself. In the absence of any existing rigorous and enduring history of the Isle of Man, he wrote The History of the Isle of Man, which was published in 1900 in two volumes. This book has remained the main text on the history of the Isle of Man ever since. The Story of the Isle of Man was published the following year with the express purpose of offering an accessible concise history of the Isle suitable for use by children and teachers in Isle of Man schools. The book betrays the constitutional interests of Moore, then Speaker of the House of Keys. A hallmark of Moore's approach to the history of the Isle of Man is the emphasis on the constitutional and legal aspects of the politics of the Isle of Man as the driving force behind history rather than key influencers.
