War with the saints – is a book, which was published in 1864 and written by Charlotte Elizabeth, popular Victorian English writer and novelist. She is described as "a woman of strong mind, strong feeling and no small amount of tact." Her work has focused on advancing women's rights and evangelical Protestantism. This volume is the last work that came out from the pen of Charlotte Elizabeth. This occupied her much time and thought during the last eighteen months of her life. Both history and her earthly existence came to an end almost simultaneously. The work is also an exceptional example of literary work, continued and brought to the end under circumstances of the most painful nature. Shortly after she began her story, an illness was discovered that eventually turned out to be cancer, which ended her life on July 12, 1846.
