Book description

Mary Hanford Ford was an American lecturer, writer, art critic and literary critic and leader of the women's electoral movement. Around 1900-1902, Ford founded the Bahá'í Faith through Sarah Farmer and Mírzá Abu'l-Faḍl and helped form the first Bahá'í community in Boston. Mary Hanford Ford went on a Bahá'í pilgrimage in 1907. And already in 1910 she began writing Bahá'í books, such as this book, The Oriental Rose, and traveled with Abdu'l-Bahá during some of his travels to various places in Europe and then America. In preparing this volume, the author is deeply indebted to M. Nicholas, secretary of the Persian diplomatic mission in Paris, who wrote a biography entitled Seyed Ali Mohammed, dit le Bab, which testifies to deep research in both Arabic and Persian.
