Book description

Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, was an Anglo-Irish soldier as well as a Tory statesman who was one of Britain's leading military and political figures in the 19th century. The Duke of Wellington has served twice as Prime Minister. He is one of the commanders who won and ended the Napoleonic Wars when the coalition defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo. The luster that brought the Duke of Wellington military glory through his campaigns in the European Peninsula and his crowned victory at Waterloo cast a shadow over his glorious start to his career. This sketch of his services in India is intended to draw attention to that part of the history of this great captain of the century, from which it will become evident that his rare qualities, mature and disciplined, were largely developed at an early age.

The book itself is gorgeous. So heavy. Substantial. It even smells good. What's inside is equally weighty.
