Book description

The foundations of belief; being notes introductory to the study of theology – is a work, which was published in 1902 an written by Arthur James Balfour, British Conservative statesman who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1902 to 1905. The following pages hardly purport to deal with the essence of theology. In the narrowest sense of the word, they are an "introduction" to it. They deal mostly with preliminary; and only towards the end of the volume, where the Introduction begins to imperceptibly merge with what it is intended for, purely theological doctrines are mentioned, with the exception of illustrations. The author did not attempt to write a monograph or a series of monographs on theology, but to outline and, if possible, recommend a certain mindset. This book is intended for the general public interested in such subjects rather than for philosophical scholars.
