Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of the first and most widely recognized masters of American literature, a representative of dark romanticism. He made a great contribution to the formation of the novel genre. Also he enriched the literature of romanticism with the introduction of elements of symbolism and allegory. He wrote many collections of stories, novels and books for children. But this book does not apply to fiction. The book is travelogue of the author's travels across Europe, namely France and Italy. This travelogue consists of two volumes and the second volume of 1876 edition is presented to your attention.
