Book description

Introductory Note

The story of Old Gamul was about entertaining in my childhood. I did not know its source when I was pointed out in my work at the Manchester Literary Club in 1884. As "The work of a German named Massenius was published in Cologne in 1657. It was called" Palaestra Dramaiicay "and contained, among other interesting stories, one of a segregated Vitalis, who fell into a pit into which also fell a lion, a monkey All of them were rescued by an honest countryman, Masachcho, to whom Vitalis had promised a marriage diver and his palace. In court, Vitalis refuses him again but is overwhelmed with confusion when the beasts go to court and force him to make an involuntary confession. Blackwood's Magazine published this translation in March 1835. it occurs in the Romanorum gesture, a famous collection of medieval stories, which forms the 39th tale of the 2nd volume, and contains a message about Gauer, according to the Confessio Amantis; his lion is lowered. Matthew Paris gives this as an apology said by Richard the Lionheart. Finally, it was found in the vault of the eastern legend, Kalila in Dimna. It was translated by Donnie into Italian, and an English version of its version appeared in 1570. Masseni may have received the story either in the Guest or in this book by Donnie. "
