Book description

Lithuania: A Drama in One Act – is a play written by Rupert Brooke. Rupert Brooke is an English poet known for his idealistic war sonnets written during the First World War. This is the only play written by Brook. The story of this play depicts the home of a poor family living in the valley of Lithuania, an agricultural country ruled by Russia. When the story begins, a rich stranger appears among them to spend the night in this poor family, the father is not at home, the mother and daughter let him stay. The first edition of Rupert Brook's only play, which numbered only 200 copies. Before the war, young Brook wrote this play without even expecting it to be performed. However, the play was staged at the Chicago Little Theater and this booklet was published in October 1915. This happened six months after Brooke died of sepsis as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force en route to Gallipoli in 1915.
