Book description

The Ulster Revival of 1859 was a Christian revival in Ulster that later spread to the rest of the United Kingdom. This book is in demand because a coherent narrative of these transactions has not yet appeared: and its author has various qualifications that can recommend it to his readers. He belongs to the Christian community in Ulster, in whose meetings God mostly showed His grace. He is a native of the province, for several years he was the pastor of one of the local churches, loves its people, has a deep interest in their spiritual progress, knows many of their ministers, visited places that were blessed, and talked with people who witnessed the described them wonderful scenes. On the other hand, the author, as a minister of Christ in London, undoubtedly rejoicing in the happiness of Ulster, did not forget about the welfare of England. Converts in every part of Ulster have simple faith in Jesus, love God for His “unspeakable gift,” love the Savior for their redemption and salvation, love one another as brothers, and have great compassion for the unsaved. They value the means of grace, flock eagerly to the house of God, keep the Sabbath diligently, love the Bible, enjoy prayer, abound in praise, fear sin, and do their duty. Grateful and full of hope, they set out on the path to heaven; and are an invaluable addition to the company of Christ's servants who, together with their servants, will work to advance the glory of their Master, the triumph of the Gospel, the conversion of the unconverted, and the happiness of everyone around them. Let the reading of this book make many work and pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on England; and may God quickly bless our efforts and fulfill our prayers.
