Bird Woman (Sacajawea), the Guide of Lewis and Clark: Her Own Story Now First given to the World

This book is a novel written by James Willard Schultz, or Apikuni, in 1918 about Sakajawea "Bird Woman". James Willard Schultz was a prominent American writer and ethnographer. He lived with the Blackfeet Indians. His son, Lone Wolf, provided illustrations for the novel, and Schultz dedicated this book to him. It is one of many books written about Sakajawea, the Indian woman who led the Lewis and Clark expedition westward up the Great River and down the Great Westside River to "salt water everywhere." It is a story told orally at the end of the 19th century and printed in the first half of the 20th century.
