Book description

Animal locomotion – is a work published in 1891 and written by James Bell Pettigrew, a Scottish anatomist and noted naturalist, professor, aviation pioneer and museum curator. In this volume, the author has tried to explain in simple terms some of the complex problems of Animal Mechanics. To avoid complex descriptions, he provided a large number of original drawings and diagrams, mostly copied from his articles and memoirs "In Flight" and other forms of "Animal Progression". He also drew from the same sources many facts that can be found in this work. This volume contains such topics as: Introduction to the Animal locomotion; Progression On The Land; Progression On And In The Water; Progression In Or Through The Air; The Wings of Insects, Bats, and Birds; Aëronautics.
