Adrift in the Pacific – is an adventure novel written by Jules Verne, originally named “Deux ans de vacances” or Two Years' Vacation and published in 1888 in two volumes. This book is a single-volume abridged edition in the United Kingdom was released by Sampson Low under the title “Adrift in the Pacific” published in 1889. This is a story about a group of 15 boys on a ship who disappear into the sea. After a terrible storm, they are thrown to a deserted island in the South Pacific where they must learn to get along together in order to survive. The author's goal was to create a Robinson Crusoe-like environment for children. This was done in order to show the world what the intelligence and courage of a child is capable of when put to the test. Also, this book is part of the cycle of adventure works of Jules Verne "Voyages Extraordinaires", which includes most of his novels.
