Wilfred Thomason Grenfell


Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell (February 28, 1865 - October 9, 1940) was a medical missionary in Newfoundland. He was born in Parkgate, Cheshire, England, on February 28, 1865, in the family of Rev. Algernon Sidney Grenfell, principal of the School of Most House, and Jane Georgiana Hutchison. Grenfell moved to London in 1882. He then began studying medicine at the London College of Medicine and the University of London (currently a member of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry) under the supervision of Sir Frederick Treves. He graduated in 1888.
