T. Wayland Vaughan


Thomas Wayland Vaughan (1870 to 1952) was a US geologist and oceanographer who worked for the US Geological Survey and US National Museum, on investigating the geology of the West Indies, the Panama Canal Zone, and the east coast of North America. Vaughan became director of the Scripps Institution of Oceanographyin 1924 and held that position until he retired in 1936. His research focused on the study of corals and coral reefs, investigating larger foraminifera, and on oceanography.
