Konrad Martin


Konrad Martin (born 18 May 1812, in Geismar, Province of Saxony, died 16 July 1879, Mont St Guibert, Belgium) was Catholic Bishop of Paderborn. He first studied under an elder brother who was a priest, and later at the Gymnasium in Heiligenstadt. For two years he studied theology and Oriental languages at Munich under Ignaz von Döllinger and Joseph Franz von Allioli. He then went to Halle to be taught by the famous Gesenius, and after that to Würzburg, where he passed the examen rigorosum and was awarded the degree of Doctor Theologiæ.
