Joseph Hodges Choate (1832 to 1917) was an American lawyer and diplomat who was associated with many great cases in American legal history, including Kansas prohibition, the Chinese exclusion, the Alexander Turney Stewart will case, the Isaac H. Maynard election returns case, the Income Tax Suit case. He was also influential in establishing the Metropolitan Museum of Art.[1]
