Jacob H. Hollander


Jacob Harry Hollander (1871 to 1940) was an American economist who was born in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1891 he graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BA and followed this in 1894 with a PhD. In 1900, he was appointed assistant professor of political economy at Johns Hopkins, and was made a full professor in 1904. In 1897 he was appointed secretary to the Bimetallic Commission, and in 1900 President McKinley named him Treasurer of Puerto Rico. He resigned in 1901 after introducing a tax system, and until 1908 was a financial advisor to the Dominican Republic, and an arbitrator in a number of labour disputes.
