Henry Law


Henry Lowe (September 29, 1797 - November 25, 1884) was dean of Gloucester from 1862 until his death. Lowe was born in the priest of Kelshall, Hertfordshire, on September 29, 1797. He was the third son of George Henry Lowe, who was bishop of Chester from 1812 to 1824 and then bishop of Bath and Wales until his death in 1845. Thus, Heinrich Law was the Grandson of Edmund Low, who was the master of Peterhouse in Cambridge from 1756 to 1768 and then Bishop of Carlisle until his death in 1787. Lowe was educated at Eton College and St. John's College in Cambridge, where he became a scholarship holder in 1821. Later that year, he was ordained and held positions in Manchester and then in Childwall. He was Archdeacon of Richmond from 1824 to 1826 and Archdeacon Wells from 1826 until his appointment to the dean's office.
