Edmund T. Allen

Edmund Turney Allen (January 4, 1896 to February 18, 1943) was a pioneer test pilot who flew for almost every major aircraft manufacturer and flew the maiden flights of some of the most famous planes in history. Born in Chicago, Illinois, for three years after his father's death he was compelled to work to support his family. He then completed a year at the University of Illinois.
